Does anyone have any advice on how to get child support from an ex who will not work?

Well, jail is no longer an option, as the states no longer have the money for doing so. There’s going to be a massive release of prisoners this year, including females who’ve committed murder.

Unlike court ordered visitation, there is no statute of limitations on the enforcement of child support, provided you keep the claim current. You can also file a claim against any estates he may receive. That can easily be done without an attorney by going to the clerk of the court.

ok im in the same situation but i gave up my husband now is awesome and supports her but the only thing they can do is lock him up and that wont help cause you cant work in jail also if he has a job under the table and you know about it then notify the agency and they will contact the employer and see if they agree to take out for child support also when he files his taxes if he has any you will be able to receive it takes 6 months to get them though. as long as you have a court order with the amount included in it then you can get his taxes but if theres no order than you get nothing if all else fails go to your local social services dept and ask for temporary cash assistance now if you do qualify for that when he does begin to work you wont see any money until he pays back all the money you’ve received from the state

Every county of every state has a system in place for establishing child support amounts and enforcing their payment. Has your ex ever worked? What is his level of education? What other skills does he have? These are some of the factors that go into calculating child support amounts.

Penalties exist for those who try to weasel out of child support by not working or taking jobs that pay less. Child support amounts are frequently deducted from paychecks and work and/or via automatic withdrawal from a bank account. People who try to "blow off" support obligations risk being thrown in jail.

You should seek out legal help. If cost is an issue, there are low cost legal aid and even free clinics depending on your income level.

Many states will put the ex in jail for non support after the amount owed is over several thousand. BUT you have to keep after this and not allow them to get away with it. Check on your computer a web site that deals with this. Check with your local police about the jail thing, check with Department of Human Services too. Keep asking questions until someone helps you.
